Last April marked William Shakespeare’s 400th death day. To honor the event the Folger Shakespeare Library set up a touring exhibit of the First Folio, one of the original collections of Shakespeare’s “works”—some of his plays and the two long poems. Also joining the Folio are a collection of contemporary books, chapbooks, and quartos to give the Folio its context for the time period.
Over time, there were four major Folio publications during the 1600s. The first one was published in 1623 and contained 36 plays.
The exhibit will run through the end of the year and is currently in Salt Lake City, Utah, until October 31st.
